Citroen recently released the official photos and some details about their new hatchback, the 2011 Citroen C4, that will debut in the Paris Motor Show later this year.

The 2011 C4 revealed on the web will be going on sale by next year. The Citroen C4 was redesigned to have a more aggressive set of headlights, new grille design, and more chrome elements. On the tail portion, we can expect a redesigned bumper, new tail lights, and spoiler mounted on the roof.

The interiors of the car gives focus on the restyled steering wheel, center stack, and use of metallic accents. The cluster of instruments for the driver can also be set with different options with a high tech system that gives the driver an idea of fuel consumption and driving habits. The vehicle also gives you about 408 liters of space for your cargo. Other options include a monitoring system for the blind spots of the vehicle, front seat with massager, and a sunroof.

Under the bonnet, consumers can expect the turbocharged gas engines and the HDi diesel versions. Citroen will also introduce a C4 Hybrid that will use an eHDi 1.6L diesel engine. The details about this variant of the C4 are very limited but the main features of the car will include a stop-start system and regenerative braking. The hybrid Citroen C4 will hit 109 g/km but this may drop to 99 g/km with the greener variants.

The concept car DS Inside was first seen in March 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show. This time around, DS stands for “Different Spirit” and the concept car is the start of a brand models to be aptly called DS3, DS4, and DS5. Take note that this hints us that there are bigger models in the Citroen drawing boards. The first of the DS models is the DS3 whose prototype has been spotted, photographed, and tested. The DS3 will make its debut appearance at the Motor Show in Frankfurt this coming September.

Citroen confirmed that the DS4 and DS5 models will be available in 2011 with a hybrid diesel-electric model is an option to be noted. According to a report in Autocar, the DS4 and DS5 models are related to the C4 and C5 models in terms of mechanical components. However, the DS4 and DS5 models would be easily distinguished compared to the DS3 with the C3.

The DS4 will bear a few elements from the 2002 version of the C-Sportloung, while DS5 with the 2008 Hypnos. The DS4 will go after the Peugeot 3008 and Nissan Qashqai, while its bigger brother, DS5 will aim for the BMW’s X6.

While the power rating seem to stray behind the leading four-cylinder turbo, V6 and V8 engines, the car company revealed that the new diesel engine is, by far, the leading Citroen-produced engine in terms of power output. Apart from getting an additional 32HP, it is also more fuel efficient by 15%. This ranking can go up to 17% depending on how the diesel engine is applied.

The new set up will come with the existing C5 and C6 models which both received an average of 31mpg in the US combined cycle—that’s a 13% and 17% improvement for C5 and C6 respectively—as compared to its predecessor the 2.7HDi V6 208hp unit. The new engine comes with the Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) that effectively traps particulate matter. Emissions for both models are down to 195g/km.

This new engine technology is combined with Citroen’s third generation common rail direct injection system. The new system ensures that the drivers will only get a pleasurable driving experience with the high-powered engine’s smooth performance.

Citroen’s new diesel engine will be available in the market later in the summer—a debut that will ready the consumers for the strict application of the 2011 Euro V emissions.

French automobile company, Citroen, is set to restore the legendary vintage DS badge for the brand new range of nearly premium models.

A concept car showing the pioneer DS-baged model named DS3, will make its debut appearance at the Geneva motor show this coming March. DS3 will enter the market sometime in 2010. The lower-medium DS4 is the second car in the new range. This model will make its first appearance sometime in 2011. The upper-medium DS5 is the third one in the range and will grace automobile showrooms towards the end of 2011.

Citroen’s C3, C4, and C5 models will make up the DS range. These DS-badged cars will get a heftier tag price, raking in an increase in sales and margins for Citroen without the extra cost of productions.

While there is still very little information about the DS-badged models, the DS3 model is expected to e offered with various diesel and petrol engines, along with the 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which is jointly developed by BMW and PSA Peugeot-Citroen, that also gives power to the MINI Cooper. The traditional chevron badge is also being redesigned by Citroen. The Citroen Sports is also rebranded as the Citroen Racing.
